How do I sell my car or truck at a car auction in Alabama?

Selling your vehicle at an auto auction is actually very easy. All you need to do is make sure that you have the title for the vehicle in your name with no lien holders. Simply bring the vehicle to the Alabama Auto Auction location of your choice and register in the office.

How much does it cost to sell my car in the auction?

Most locations charge a fee to register the car or truck in the auction. This typically ranges from $25 to $35 at most locations. When the vehicle is sold in the auction, there will be a seller’s fee deducted from the price of the vehicle. This amount varies greatly depending on how much the vehicle is sold for – typically, it will range between $200 to $400.

Do I need to do anything else after the car has been sold to a bidder in the auction?

No, the auction will handle all of the paperwork and the title transfer to the new owner. You can retrieve your payment in the form of a check during the next business day. Some locations can pay you the night that the car is auctioned, but this is not guaranteed since the buyer’s payment must be processed first.

Can I leave my vehicle on the auction lot in between auctions or do need to keep bringing it?

If your vehicle does not sell during the auction, we recommend that you leave it at the auction until the next sale. This way, buyers that visit the auction on non-sale days can look at your vehicle and attempt to buy it. However, you are welcome to take the vehicle at the end of the sale and then bring it back to auctioned again.
